I know that Stayfree has rebranded as Carefree, which I think is great. However, I’m pretty sure the pads have changed slightly. I can’t definitively say if they’re better or worse, but they’re definitely not the same. I preferred the feel and absorbency of the original Stayfree pads. I wish I still had some to compare because I can’t quite identify the difference. Nevertheless, these are still my top choice among all pad brands, which is why they deserve 5 stars. I appreciate that they effectively absorb both period blood and urine while remaining thin—it’s a combination that’s hard to find elsewhere.

This product was previously known as Stayfree, but it has recently been rebranded to Carefree, among other changes. About a decade ago, I had to stop using Always due to a skin rash and an allergy. After testing various brands, I discovered that Stayfree was the only one that didn’t irritate my skin, which made me a loyal fan. I loved the comfort, the variety of sizes and absorbency levels, and how well they stayed in place; I never felt like I was wearing “diapers” or feeling damp… until the branding change. While they claimed it was just a name change from Stayfree to Carefree, it’s clear that more alterations were made. Now, I feel anything but carefree when using them.
Here are my main concerns:
1) They don’t stay in place. The wings don’t adhere properly, and the back end sticks to itself instead of the underwear, leading to a lot of crumpling.
2) I consistently feel wet when wearing these.
3) The package contents have been reduced, yet the price remains unchanged.
4) It’s tough to differentiate between the various packages and sizes.
I’m including pictures of the overnight and regular versions. The overnight ones come wrapped in pastel orange, and the regular ones in pastel yellow, but they are hard to tell apart, especially since the packets are nearly identical. You have to double-check to ensure you’re buying the right ones. The only slight distinction is a small colored section in the middle. While you might think the size would help identify the products, the difference isn’t significant when comparing quantities, particularly with the larger and thicker options. For instance, the Stayfree Maxi pack with 14 is nearly the same size as the regular one with about 28. So, size doesn’t offer much assistance.
Additionally, the new packaging is incredibly poor in terms of inclusivity and accessibility. I’m attaching images from a chromatic visual simulation for colorblindness. Just look at that! In the upper left corner, you see how someone with normal vision perceives these packages. For those with protanopia, deuteranopia, or tritanopia, they appear identical! Good luck distinguishing them, whether in-store or during a late-night bathroom trip, especially if you, like me, keep several types on hand for when Aunt Flo visits. You need varying levels of protection on different days, and you certainly don’t want to waste time figuring things out in the dark.
I would have rated these 5 stars when they were under the Stayfree brand. Now, I’m giving them 3 stars because I haven’t experienced any skin issues yet. Honestly, I felt more inclined to give them a 1 or 2 due to their poor performance and lack of consideration for individuals with visual impairments.

I have always used Stayfree Ultra-Thin, so I was surprised to find out that Stayfree is now Carefree. Fortunately, I’m happy to report that nothing has changed except the name.

I’ve often wondered why manufacturers have separate product lines for menstrual and urinary incontinence pads, especially considering the stigma that discourages older women from purchasing the latter when they need to. As someone who helps with my mother’s grocery shopping, I find it much more comfortable to have these in my cart instead of brands clearly designed for leaks.
These pads have a nice baby powder scent, which is a significant improvement over the overpowering floral fragrance of her previous brand. They do a great job of absorbing minor leaks. The main strip adheres well to her underwear, but she struggles with the wings; they tend to bunch up, detach from her underwear, and stick to her skin instead.
Perfect to conserve small space –
I would say it’s quite similar to Stayfree, but from my experience, the cotton feels different and the adhesive on the pad doesn’t adhere very well.
