I decided to try this product because I was tired of monthly expenses on tampons. After hearing positive reviews about period cups, I thought it was time to give one a go. I picked this particular cup due to its affordable price and the availability of two sizes. During my period this week, I had the chance to test it out. Inserting the cup was straightforward; I folded it in half and then into quarters before placing it inside. Once it settled, I felt a slight suction sensation. There was no discomfort during insertion, and once it was positioned correctly, I couldn’t feel it at all. On the first day of my period, I used a light pad as a backup, and there was a tiny bit of leakage. However, when I wore the cup for 8 hours without a pad the next day, there was absolutely no leakage. Cleaning it is simple, and I love the adorable box it comes in. I highly recommend this product, especially for those trying a period cup for the first time!

I’ve just completed my first cycle using these cups, and I initially hadn’t considered a menstrual cup until I came across a TikTok discussing the pink tax. I decided to ditch my regular period products and give it a try. After researching various brands, I chose this one because it offered both a small and large cup for just £15, which seemed like a good deal compared to other brands that sold single cups at higher prices.
My first impression was how easy it was to insert. Some reviewers mentioned difficulty getting it to open, but I found that if I lifted my leg onto the bathroom counter, folded it, and wiggled it a bit after inserting, it opened up without any trouble. However, I did encounter an issue the first evening when I reinserted it post-shower. I suddenly found myself unable to pee! After waiting for about half an hour and reading in bed, I tried again but was still struggling. A bit of Googling and watching YouTube videos revealed that if the cup is inserted too high, it can press against your bladder. I had instinctively placed it high, which led to the uncomfortable feeling of needing to go but being unable to. Once I adjusted it lower, I was able to relieve myself comfortably. I thought this was important to mention, as it was quite alarming at first, but it was more about getting used to the cup rather than a flaw with this brand.
The rest of my cycle went smoothly; I totally relate to those who said they barely noticed they were on their period. As for sizing, I’m 29 and have had two natural births. I started with the small cup, which was perfect for me, although the large one looked a bit intimidating at first. On one of my heaviest nights, I experienced a leak, so I switched to the large cup for overnight use and found it worked better for my flow. Both cups were comfortable to wear. I wholeheartedly recommend these! I’m thrilled that I never have to buy pads or tampons again—what a relief!

I purchased these cups on a whim when I realized my period was approaching and decided to add pads to my pickup order. Out of curiosity, I checked out some menstrual cups and found these at a reasonable price with decent reviews, so I decided to give them a try.
They arrived just an hour after my period began, allowing me to experience them fully. Initially, I found it a bit tricky to figure out the most comfortable way to insert them. I stood with one foot on the toilet seat and relaxed (which the instructions emphasize is crucial—tension makes it harder). I experimented with different folds. If one didn’t feel right, I tried another. When it’s not inserted correctly, it feels like a tampon that needs changing. I tried the C fold and another fold where you tuck one part in.
By the end of my period, it became a breeze. I could change it while sitting on the toilet. I discovered that taking a deep breath in and exhaling while relaxing my pelvic area during insertion made a significant difference. It took some getting used to for me to be comfortable putting my fingers up there. One night, after a late night out with a bit too much to drink, I opted for a pad instead of dealing with the cup, but it turned out to be less messy than expected.
At 34 and having had two kids, I used both the small and large cups. I opted for the large on my heavy days, although I might have been fine with just the small the entire time—I just wanted to avoid leaks. I went skating with friends and appreciated not having to worry about changes or leaks.
I noticed some reviews mentioned that using these cups shortened their periods. While I can’t confirm that mine was shorter, it seemed like the light pink and brown discharge that usually lingers for a couple of days after my period only lasted one day this time, which was a nice bonus.
For the price, I think these cups are worth trying if you’re curious! I recommend keeping some pads on hand for your first cycle or so, but I ended up not needing them after the first day—I felt confident going without.

After hearing great things about menstrual cups, I decided to make the switch from tampons and did plenty of research beforehand. I absolutely love it! It took some trial and error, but by around the fourth or fifth month, it became much easier to use. I only had one leak, which was a learning experience for me—I didn’t unfold it completely, so there was no suction. Lesson learned! It can get a little tricky towards the end of my cycle when flow slows down, and I typically use a light tampon or two until spotting stops. I’ve noticed that the cup can be harder to twist and create suction at that point, which can be uncomfortable. However, it has significantly reduced my tampon usage, saving me money. The cup lasts a lot longer between changes, and now that I understand how it works with my body, I never worry about leaks when it’s in place. I won’t ever go back to just using tampons. With my light to medium flow, I usually only need to change it twice a day. I prefer not to change it in public unless I have access to a private bathroom, as it can get messy, but it’s absolutely worth it. I highly recommend giving it a try—just be patient and allow yourself time to adjust to using it!

I’ve been using it for over two years now, and while it does experience some discoloration over time, it remains incredibly soft, flexible, and easy to handle. It’s also compact. In comparison to other brands I’ve tried, which tend to be stiffer and have long, difficult-to-use tips, this one features a much softer tip.

TLDR; Is it beginner-friendly? Not really! But it’s a decent cup overall.
I’ve had this cup for about a year, and it’s holding up well. It offers great value for the price, and I do enjoy using it, but be prepared for a lot of trial and error to get the hang of it. Inserting it can be tricky and might be uncomfortable for first-timers. I’ve found the C-fold to work best for me, but it still takes some effort to get it in just right. They offer an applicator that I might consider purchasing, but keep in mind that you don’t need all the extra “add-ons” they sell; the cup should function well on its own. That said, I do recommend their soap and steam bowl, which I find very effective.
This cup is essentially a generic mold, similar to June cups and other brands, but Shordy uses a thicker, firmer material, and even their small size is quite large. In my opinion, it’s too firm for beginners, which makes it challenging to use. The stem is also short, so if you have a high cervix, removing it could be a struggle. If you’re new to menstrual cups, I highly suggest taking the “Put a Cup in it” quiz to find the right fit for you. For those who have prior experience and are looking for an affordable option, this cup is certainly decent. I’ll likely keep using it since I’ve already bought it, but if I could do it over, I would choose a softer, more flexible cup.
